‘Shout for joy to the Lord, all the earth.
Worship the Lord with gladness;
come before him with joyful songs.
Know that the Lord is God.’ Psalm 100
Children and Youth work at Loughton Methodist Church is a vital and exciting part of our church life.
We are passionate about teaching children and young people the amazing and life changing stories of Jesus - through storytelling, games,
crafts, singing and having fun together.
We love to teach the Bible to children and see their creativity and love for God’s word grow.
As it says in Psalm 100, we want to see the children worship the Lord with gladness and joyful songs and to know that the Lord is God, and
that he made them and loves them.
All of the Children and Youth team have full safeguarding checks (DBS) which are kept up to date and have adopted the churches
Safeguarding policy.
Roots on Sunday
“Roots on Sunday” is our name for Sunday School. Every Sunday at the 10.30am service there is plenty of fun to be had for all children and
youth aged between 0 – 18 years.
Children and adults all start together in the church; we normally have a short talk by one of the children’s leaders, a fun song and then go
off into our groups. For new children, parents are welcome to come and settle the children into the groups before returning to the
service.
Crèche is for children 0 – 3 years, it is a staffed play area in the cafe with lots of toys and colouring for the children. Parents can
choose to leave their children in this group and return to the service or stay with them and listen to the service via the speakers in
the cafe.
We have 2 children’s groups; in these groups the children have fun exploring God’s word in creative ways, often using games, crafts and
drama.
Beginners and Hydr8 is for children 3 – 7 years.
Branches is for children 7 – 11 years.
Reach is for youth 11 – 18 years, the young people spend time eating breakfast (a very important part of the session!) playing games and
studying the Bible together.
On the first Sunday of every month there is an All Age Worship service where the whole church family worships God together for just under
an hour.
SNYF (Sunday Night Youth Fellowship)
Meets after the Contemporary Evening Service, second and fourth Sunday of the month
Butterfly Club
Weekly gathering for carers and pre-school children in the Wesley Hall, Mondays 1:30 to 3:00 pm term time
Toddler Church
Toddler Church is a very informal fun time of fellowship and worship for pre-school children and their parents, grandparents or child
minders.
We meet together at the front of the church every Tuesday morning (term time) at 10 am for an half an hour mini church service which
includes songs (usually with lots of actions) , prayers, story, offertory and lots of laughs.
This is then followed by a time for craft, refreshment and of course the now infamous Toddler Church toast! It’s a time to chat meet
other mums and share news and we end approximately at 11.30.
So please come and join us, we would love to welcome you at LMC Toddler Church.
