Christian Aid

We have been a dedicated supporter of Christian Aid’s yearly house to house collections and its campaigns on social justice for many years.  Keith Aldred keith@akaldred.plus.com will be pleased to accept offers of help. See http://www.christianaid.org.uk/ for more information about Christian Aid

Fairtrade

We are a Fairtrade Church. Come and visit Wesley’s Café! We support Fairtrade Fortnight each year and aim to bring awareness of how life changing Fairtrade can be. We encourage people to try and buy Fairtrade produce and have a Traidcraft representative amongst our congregation. http://www.fairtrade.org.uk/ for more information.

Junior Mission for All (JMA)

JMA is part of the World Mission Fund and money collected supports many projects across partner churches worldwide. The children in the church pair with an adult supporter get to know one another and raise money for a good cause. See  http://www.methodist.org.uk/mission/junior-mission-for-all-(jma) for more information.

PALS Projects

A huge amount of thought and energy goes into a different project every two years, helping raise money for a variety of Christian  endeavours. Recent projects include working with the Dalits in India, mainly for computers for training, and helping street children in  El Salvador via the Toybox charity. The current project is for Disabled Palestinian Children (Action around Bethlehem Children with Disability ABCD). The charity is dedicated to improving the quality of life of children and young adults who suffer from physical, mental and psychological disabilities  in Palestine / the occupied territories and the Gaza Strip.

Action for Children (AFC)

Action for Children is a national charity who works to make sure every child has the love, support and opportunity they need to reach their potential. We support our local group and work hard to raise funds via an annual spring plant sale, quizzes, a house to house  collection and charity runs. See https://www.actionforchildren.org.uk/ for more information.

Care for the Elderly and Methodist Homes

There are many weekday activities at LMC which support the older generation, including various meals and fundraising lunches, the  monthly midday service, pastoral care and support in the Welcome area. Other activities on site include MIND and the Memory Café

Methodist Women in Britain

Methodist Women in Britain is a movement within the Methodist Church, led by a group of volunteers and funded by donations, which  aims to connect women with an interest in creative spirituality and a passion for global social justice. We are dedicated to linking  women in our church with women in other churches, whether locally or nationally. There are numerous groups, prayer days,  conferences and an annual celebration. See http://www.mwib.org.uk/ for more information.

Street Pastors

We care about our local community and a number of our congregation are out on the streets on Friday nights with Street Pastors, or  supporting them with prayer. See http://streetpastors.org/locations/loughton/ for more information.

Whitechapel Mission

“Bringing hope where there is despair.” We have supported the work at the Whitechapel Mission for many years, helping with making  breakfasts for the 300  or so people who use it every day, collecting donations of food and clothing, being trustees, and running the  British 10k to raise money. Its work is vital for many who are homeless or struggling, and its services are much in demand. See  https://www.whitechapel.org.uk/ for more information

Foodbank

Loughton’s Foodbank opened in 2013 and provides emergency food to people in crisis. A number of our congregation volunteer their  help. See http://loughton.foodbank.org.uk/ for more information.
