Our minister is Rev. Tony Morling, he is married to Cathy and they have two young children, Columba and Ronan.
Tony's working life began as a retail jeweller having qualified as a gemmologist. By his mid twenties he decided on a change of career and attended Cliff College, the Methodist Theological college for a year, followed by another year in Crewe as a lay pastor. He then read theology at Cambridge as part of his five year ministerial training.
Tony was was brought up in Methodism and learnt central core values from the beginning, his mother was a Methodist Deaconess and his Grandfather a Missionary in India.
Born in Jersey Rev Morling has fond memories of the island where his Mother still lives and also of the Isle of Iona where he and Cathy met. The Iona Community is an ecumenical Christian community of men and women from different walks of life and different traditions in the Christian church that is committed to seeking new ways of living the gospel of Jesus Christ in today's world.
Tony has been a keen walker since his teens. In 1994 he undertook a 1,500 mile sponsored walk from Jersey to the Shetland Islands which took 84 days and raised £12,000 for a family support centre in Bayswater which was run by NCH, the charity of the Methodist Church. A footie fan too, Tony finds time to cheer on this year's Premier league champions, Chelsea.
He holds forthright views on social justice and fairness, under his guidance the Church Coffee Bar has been refurbished and is a bright and friendly place where people of all ages from the church and community can meet, an area with toys has been provided where young children can play safely while their parents enjoy the fairly traded tea and coffee available.
