Our Mission Statement is: Loughton Methodist Church is a Christian community seeking to worship and serve God faithfully, to work together with other Christians to witness to the Good News of Jesus Christ and to make full use of our resources to express the love of God for all people.

There are many influences that flow into LMC. While the church is firmly rooted within the Methodist tradition many of the congregation bring insight from other Christian traditions. Our worship similarly draws upon a variety of sources where modern worship songs find their place alongside music from Iona, Taize and the hymns of Charles Wesley.

In recent times the influence of the emerging church movement has also been felt in the writings of Steve Chalke, Rob Bell and Brian McLaren. A phrase that many within the church would gather around is a ‘generous orthodoxy’. This means that many hold to a traditional Christ centered faith, but one in which friendships and respect for those of other faiths, or no faith is natural and important.

The DNA of the LMC is therefore rich and complex. It is evident that the church does not exist within isolation from other fellowships. We believe that Christ invites us to enter into trusting relationships within which we can share our insight and be enriched by others.
