This painting emerged from the artists interest in shadow and light and, as he said, “..to get a loosely represented image of a bird … hovering…”
Although the artist left the work untitled, others have seen in it a representation of God’s Holy Spirit, which has variously been depicted as a bird, fire, wind and breath. All these are perceived as ways in which God touches and inspires people – this contact with the Spirit is the powerhouse of the Christian life.
